Description:

In this workshop, we will learn how to better communicate with non-native English speakers in general, and Thai speakers in particular.

  • How can you bridge this language gap?
  • How can you better understand the unique English that Thais speak?
  • How you help Thais better understand the unique English that you speak?

We will put the Thai language under the microscope. We will identify key differences between Thai and English that sometimes result in misunderstanding and even communication breakdown.

We will learn and practice techniques and strategies to overcome these obstacles making communication with our new Thai friends both smoother and more comprehensible.

About the Instructor:

Steven Epstein has an MA in Teaching English to Students of Other Language. He was a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal. He has taught English in Nepal, the Philippines, Indonesia, Laos and Thailand. He is a guest lecturer at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya Buddhist University at Wat Suan Dok.
