My Cancer Journey
Don Linder

7 days after my 65th birthday, 9 days before I won film honors, my ENT doctor saw it. Tonsil
cancer stage 4A. A 30% chance to live 6 months. So began radiation, unbearable pain,
a morphine overdose. I was sure whatever I saw – a plant, a car, my wife – would be for the last time. I let few people know what was eating me alive. Now I am talking.

In this in-person presentation, Don Linder, a native New Yorker who has lived in Thailand since 2001 and is well known to many in the Lifelong Learning community, will share his experiences of receiving a devastating cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment, and recovery. His story will resonate with many who have either survived cancer or known other cancer survivors. After Don’s presentation, there will be time for discussion and the sharing on information about resources available in Chiang Mai for people facing similar experiences to Don’s.
