August 7, 14, 21, 28 , September 4, 11, 2020
Fridays, 12:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Either Payap University (Kaew Nawarat Campus) or
Studio Sakse (near Central Festival)
This class will focus on photography projects or series where the images we will create tell a story bigger than the sum of the individual images. We will cover camera functions, but the bulk of the class will be focused on shooting candid photos, story concepts, formats of visual story telling, introduction to the larger contemporary photo world, showing / sharing your work and much more.
You may use any camera, including a phone camera, as long as you are happy with the quality. The class will require many hours of shooting and some writing outside of class. Plan to spend 5-10 hours a week to get the most out of it.
The instructor, Ryan Libre, is photographer/curator who has lived and worked in Asia for over two decades. In addition to his own work & exhibitions, he directs many projects, such as www.sakse.org and Everyday Kachin for supporting emerging and established documentary artists in Asia. Awards & grants include the Nikon Salon, the Pulitzer Center, the Eugene Smith Fund, Internews, and more.
Cost: 2,500 THB for 6 sessions
