Limited series (6-8 episodes) on streaming services like Netflix have become enormously popular in recent years, in some cases more so than films. This term, we will watch and discuss a Netflix limited series drama. Many of the elements of series dramas are very similar to films, but others are unique to the series format. This class will focus on the Netflix series “Unbelievable” (2019), an 8-part drama. In each class, we will discuss how a single or double episode arc progresses the overall story arc. If you do not subscribe to Netflix, we can send you a 2GB single file with all 8 episodes and the original Netflix subtitles/CC. “Unbelievable”: After a young woman is accused of lying about a rape, two female detectives investigate a spate of eerily similar attacks. Inspired by true events.

Don Linder, the course facilitator, is an internationally award-winning scriptwriter, fiction, travel, and academic writer. His film “The Last Executioner” played worldwide and won numerous awards, including Thailand’s prestigious Tukata Tong Awards for Best Film and Best Screenplay (2015) making Don the only non-Thai to win a Tukata Tong since the King started the awards over 60 years ago. His film “The Cave” (2018) also played worldwide and recently won the Director’s Choice Humanitarian Award at the Sedona (Arizona) International Film Festival 2021. He is currently writing pitches for two Netflix drama series.
