This talk will explore the situation of Thai women in the deep south of Thailand who are faced with the consequences of the Tak Bai incident and their ongoing struggle for peace and justice for their families and their community. This includes collective efforts to address the situation, to formulate strategies and create positive actions to gain wider support.

Dr Nantawan Lewis is Professor Emerita of Ethnic and Religious studies, Metropolitan State University, St Paul, Minnesota, USA. Her research and publications focus on the struggle for social and gender justice by Asian and Asian American women.
Dr Lewis’s most recent research concentrates on the situation of Muslim women in the deep south of Thailand and their heroic efforts to bring justice and peace to their families and their community.
