Description:
The Kawila Memorial and Museum commemorates Chiang Mai’s independence from Burma under the leadership of Chao Kawila. He was appointed King of Chiang Mai by HM Rama I in 1802. The memorial was established in 1992/1993 by Major General Pang Malakul, Commander of the 33rd Military Circle. The museum offers an exhibition of historical events and artifacts relating to the life of King Kawila and the period of independence from the Burmese empire.
