Itinerary:
9:00 Talk on mural paintings by Dr. Susan Conway at the LLL Center. She will explain how Lan Na Tai mural paintings are unique works of art which portray the history, culture, and customs of the people as well as giving insight into Buddhist teaching and practice. She will also explain the painting techniques used in the murals.
10:30 Board vans for the drive to Wat Buak Khrok
11:00 – noon tour of Wat Buak Khrok to examine the exquisite mural paintings there
12:30 Lunch at Northern Tai restaurant

Presenter: Susan Conway
Susan Conway is currently a research associate at the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex University. She studied fine art as an undergraduate and her PhD was a study of the history and culture of northern Thailand. A published author, she has written extensively on the arts and culture of South-East Asia, especially northern Thailand and the Shan States of Myanmar. She is also an artist whose work is based on South-East Asian landscapes and Buddhist mural paintings.
