Description
The presentation examines Thailand’s wars in Laos from the early 19th century, how these wars have shaped Thai culture and society, and how they reflect Thai beliefs.
It explores how Thai and Vietnamese rivalries affected current attitudes and cultures, and how unusual migration and population movements were caused by war. The lecture demonstrates one of the most powerful influences on culture: the horror of war, and details how past conflicts have influenced current perceptions of Isaan, Laos and Cambodia.
