Visakha Bucha Day is the most sacred Thai Buddhist holiday. It commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha. It is held on the full moon day of every sixth lunar month which will be May 22nd this year.
Join us for an illuminating lecture about this sacred holiday. We will learn about the life of the Buddha and his path to his enlightenment. We will learn how Thais celebrate the holiday and how we can respectfully participate in ceremonies at our local temple.
About the Presenter:
Phra Theeratphid “Somsri” Salawinphonphana is a teacher at the Chiang Mai campus of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya Buddhist University at Wat Suan Dok. He has an MA in English. He teaches Dharma in English, Meditation, English Literature as well as other subjects. He has been a monk for seven years. He was born in Ta Song Yang in Tak Province.
